Faq's

There are two main ways people can search for information:

1. By business category, or profile (no specific date in mind)
2. By event/date (search events that have specific dates

The mission of Get Out And Try is to encourage residents of the St. Croix Valley to break out of their routines and actively engage with their community, preferably in a new way. Therefore, a qualifying business is one that is located within the St. Croix Valley and fits with the overall mission of Get Out And Try; that is, the business needs to be one that regularly hosts events and/or serves patrons in the pursuit of entertainment, dining, exploring, etc. For example, a restaurant fits the mission and would have a searchable profile, but typically professional services such as real estate agencies, banks, doctors, etc., would not because they are not event-based. These businesses are welcomed to list any events they may have on Get Out And Try, but their profiles will be hidden, meaning they will not be searchable by business category.

A visible profile is for a business/organization in the St. Croix Valley that regularly hosts events or serves patrons in the pursuit of entertainment, dining, etc., whereas a hidden profile is for a business or organization hosting an event but whose business function falls outside of the mission of 'Get Out And Try – St. Croix Valley'. Here are a few scenarios where the profile would be hidden, but the event would be searchable:

• A bank or financial institution is hosting a festival that is open to the public.
• A student group or school organization is hosting a 5K race that is open to the public.

Examples of business categories that would have hidden profiles include, but are not limited to: Real estate agents and agencies, insurance agents and agencies, financial institutions and advisors, contractors/home improvement, government, manufacturing, automotive, media, technology, and other professional services.

Profiles are limited to qualifying businesses located within the St. Croix Valley that regularly host events and/or serve patrons in the pursuit of entertainment, dining, exploring, etc.

If your business or organization does not fit into one of the categories listed, and you feel as though it aligns with the concept of ‘Get Out And Try – St. Croix Valley', we are open to your feedback. Please email us at info@getoutandtry.com.

Profiles

Profiles are billed monthly based on the calendar month. If you begin your profile after the 15th day of the month, you will be billed half of the monthly charge (Days 1-15 are charged at the full rate). We will invoice you monthly (on the first of the month) for the profile level that you have selected. You can choose to upgrade your profile at any point. If you upgrade your profile account within a partial month, your charge will be prorated based on the time of your upgrade.

If you choose to downgrade your account, it will take effect on the 1st of the following month. Your previous profile level (prior to downgrading) will continue until your paid time is complete (through the end of the calendar month). Refunds (both partial and full) are not available for downgraded profiles.

Events

Events are invoiced as a one-time charge per event (unlike profiles that are invoiced on the 1st of the month as a recurring charge). Sorry, upgrades and downgrades are not available for events once they have been published.

As with profiles, you can choose basic, silver, or gold level as shown in the chart below. There are three categories of events:

Events are invoiced by individual event as a single/flat rate. Events will be invoiced based on the timing of your submission as a one-time charge per event (unlike profiles that are invoiced on the 1st of the month as a recurring charge). Upgrades and downgrades are not available for events once they have been published.

There are three categories of events:

• Single Event – occurs on a single day
• Consecutive Event – occurs over consecutive days (Ex: Festivals that are held Thursday through Sunday)
• Recurring Event* – occurs weekly on a specific day of the week

*Recurring events must be renewed after 3 months.

Your profile and events will be reviewed within 24 hours of your submission. If we have questions about your submission, we will email you at the email you have used to submit the event. Please reply promptly to avoid any delays.

Ticketing through Get Out And Try – St. Croix Valley is not available at this time. Within the events, you are able to add a link to your event that can take visitors to your ticketing site.

Our banner ads are intended to showcase content from businesses and organizations with listings on our site. We do not want to have a website cluttered with flashy banner ads. The profile section has banner ads of the businesses that have upgraded to a gold profile. The events section has banner ads of the businesses that have upgraded to gold events. When clicked, the banner ad will take the end user to that listing. We do not charge per click or impression. Banner ads are included as part of the gold level pricing.

Banner Ad Design is not included within the gold level packaging. There are many programs and apps available that allow you to build a banner ad for free. If you would like to have a professional design your banner ad, please email us at info@getoutandtry.com and we will refer you to our preferred designer.

Banner ads are available to gold level participants only. There are a few ways to upload your ad. Please log in and navigate either to your business profile or events section and follow the directions toward the bottom of the page, or you may click on the icon. Specifications for ads are as follows:

• Dimensions: 728x90 px
• File size: 200KB (max)
• Format: PNG, JPG, GIF

Not at this time. This platform was built with all budgets in mind. That is why we have free options for both profiles and events.

Yes, you can edit both profiles and events after they are submitted. Events will lock in the date, time, and title of the event after submission. If you need to make edits to the locked fields, please email us at: info@getoutandtry.com.
